Reception

Antartica

We talked about the continent of Antartica. We looked at where in the world it is and what the weather is like. We described what we thought it might be like to live or work there. We thought about what people would need to help to keep them warm.

We have been learning about animals that live in Antarctica and all the different types of penguin as well as its life cycle.

We explored the different animals that live in Antartica and how they are suited to their habitat. We sorted animals that live in hot places and those that live in cold places.

We investigated what happened to ice when it was taken out of the freezer. We began by predicting what we thought would happen if we left the ice out of the freezer and it different places of the classroom.

We observed the ice melting in different areas of the classroom and talked about why we thought it had melted.

Next we investigated freezing toys. We filled cups with water so the toy animals were covered. Then we placed them in the freezer for a few hours. We talked about what we had observed and why it had happened.
