National Poetry Day 2024
Reception
We enjoyed listening to rhymes and poems throughout the day.

We sang the poem Five little speckled frogs, acting it out as a class.
We became poets and thought about other creatures that could sit on the log.
We created our own counting poems such as...
'5 little stripy cats lying on a furry mat drinking delicious milk,
1 went to find their mammy and then there were 4 stripy cats...'
'5 big black dogs sitting on a log,
1 went to have some tea and there there only 4 big black dogs...'
'5 little ladybugs sitting on a green leaf,
1 flew off into the sunshine and there were only 4 little ladybirds...'
'5 fluffy bunnies in the long grass sitting in the sun,
1 hopped away into the field and then there were only 4 fluffy bunnies...'

Year 3
Year 4
We had a great day exploring a range of poetry. We started off the day with a counting poem adding additional images and lines to the poem, " 11 Uses for a garden Pea."
We then, inspired by our class novel, "The Nowhere Emporium", composed and performed our own free verse poems.
