Year 5

                          Home Learning

For access to online learning please use Classdojo and Google Classroom to access online lessons and support from your Year Group team.

Work will be set daily and online support will be given throughout the day.

 

Home Learning Expectations

  • Work will be set every morning at 9:00am via google classroom and should be completed by 3:30pm.

  • Work allocated should last the allocated time as stated on the timetable.

  • Work should be completed to the same standard we would expect at school.

  • Once you have completed a piece of work, hand it in. It will be marked and you will receive feedback 

  • The Year 5 team will be available to answer any queries between 9:00 and 5:00 via Class Dojo and Google Classroom.

  • After this, any queries will be answered the following weekday. 

  • We recognise everyone’s day to day situation will be very different, if you have any issues with completing work on some days, please keep us informed. We recognise not all days will be straight forward!

The Great Sea View Bird                          Project.
This week we have had great fun in school and online completing our Whole School Bird project. From bird spotting, to sculptures, poetry and sketching, to making bird feeders and our very own owls. We have had an excellent time appreciating and celebrating our local birds.

Inspired by the story we created additional pages with our favourite sayings.

 

 In the story the fox does not really speak much.

We decided to give the fox a voice, we retold the story from the foxes point of view.

    Mamma Mia - What A              Healthy Bolognaise!

We had a great time at home and in school Tasting and rating different bolognaise sauces. We then used our research to design our own healthy bolognaise recipes.

Exploring Nets of 3D Shapes.

We thought of creative ways to explore the nets of 3D shapes. We had great fun creating them in different ways, exploring their properties.

          How Mountains Are Formed.

We were set the challenge both at home and at school, to conduct a series experiments to help us understand how mountains are formed. We had great fun and got to eat the mountains at the end!! Look at our amazing posters we produced.

Amazing Home and School Learning.

Deadly Paranha.

In chapter 4 - The River ( The Explorer),
Fred, Con, Lila and Max go on a search for water, after following ants they eventually find the river. They are brave enough to enter the water but they find Piranhas - fish with teeth! They are terrified and get out of the river as fast as they can.

 

Inspired by this Chapter we created factfiles researching and presenting information about these deadly creatures.

Van Gogh's 3D Chairs.

Inspired by Van Gogh's paintings of his bedroom, we created our own 3D images at home and in school.
