French Friday 2023

Please take a look at how we celebrated French Friday...

Our French Cafe…

Nursery

We played boules for the first time, getting to grips with the rules quickly and getting really close to the jack!

We enjoyed visiting the French café and tasting some French treats. We also impressed Year 6 with our rendition on 'Frere Jacques' 🇨🇵

Reception

We visited the french cafe...

We played french boules in small teams.

We looked at pictures of famous landmarks in France. We studied the Eiffel Tower and discussed the features that we could see. We then drew the Eiffel Tower including all of the fantastic details.

We created our own French Flags using a range of collage materials. We learnt about what each of the colours mean on the flag blue means freedom, white means equality and red means brotherhood.

Year 2

Year 3

We had a fantastique French Friday! We began our day with a game of boules which was great fun. After that we designed placemats to take to the French Cafe with us showing the variety of French food on offer with the vocabulary needed to order the food. We then took part in French treasure hunt on the field and in the school yard. In our French Friday celebration assembly, we shared the paintings of the Eiffel Tower that we had created in the style of French painter Georges Seurat. We finished our day in the French Cafe where all of the children had a go at using spoken French to order their food and chat with the staff! A great day all round.

Year 4

We started our French Friday at the cafe! We even spoke in French to greet each other and to ask for our food and drink!

We found out about one of the biggest sporting events in France, The Tour de France. We found out lots of interesting facts!

We had great fun learning how to play Boules!

We ended our day by completing a French treasure hunt! What an amazing day!
