World Book 2023
Nursery
We enjoyed celebrating World Book day. We dressed up or wore our comfy clothes to listen to our favourite stories. Mrs Henderson and Mrs Murray read stories to us throughout the day and Mrs Raeburn and Mrs Dent made a special visit to Nursery to read us their favourite story.
Reception
We had a wonderful World Book Day when we dressed up in our favourite clothes to discover a love of reading. Some children brought in a book from home to share in class, other children chose their favourite from in class. We enjoyed drawing our favourite book cover and making bookmarks. Mrs Carter read us stories throughout the day and we also liked Mrs Cunningham and Mrs Turnbull visit us to share their favourite story.
We loved it when Year 6 came to reception to pair up with us to visit our school library. We read lots of stories together and talked about our favourite characters, parts
Year 3
In Year 3 we started off our day by exploring 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' in French! Following on from that, Mrs Macdonald shared one of her favourite stories 'The Rascally Cake' with us and we made lists of disgusting ingredients that we could add in cakes of our ow. We then made some crispy cakes (luckily NOT with the gruesome ingredients we had thought of!)
Throughout the day, we had visitors from other classes coming in and telling us stories. We finished off our afternoon by making giant representations of characters from books that we have explored so far this year. We had a lot of fun over the day which was finished off perfectly with our cakes, more stories and a drink of juice.
Year 4
In Year 4 we explored a range of blurbs and discussed what images they gave us. Following this, we chose our favourite one and designed our own book covers for our chosen blurb.
Throughout the day, we played quizzes based on famous stories and authors and enjoyed listening to Mrs Carter and Mrs Clay reading their favourite stories to us!
We brought our favourite stories in from home and shared them to the rest of the class.
Mrs Cunningham and Mrs Back also shared examples of poems from one of their favourite authors, Michael Rosen.
