Safer Internet Day 2023
We learnt about this year's Safer Internet day theme 'Want to talk about it' by a whole school assembly hosted by our Safeguarding superstars.
Each year group had a focus. Have a look at their learning...
Reception
We played a game in a small group Can you help me please? It helped us to practise asking for help. We rolled a dice and if we landed on a HELP square we had to pick up a card. The scenarios were discussed and we talked about how it might make them feel and who would be the best person to talk to .
Year 3
On safer internet day, we had a class assembly exploring the theme of staying safe online and why we had a safer internet day. We then played an online game of 'Would you rather''. This led to some very interesting discussions about age appropriate content on the internet, staying safe and telling a grown up should anything go wrong or make us feel uncomfortable. We finished the session with a questionnaire exploring 'No tech or better with tech?' The children had mixed views but we all engaged in good discussion!
Year 4
We discussed a range of different activities and if we thought they were better with or without technology. The activities included chatting to friends and family, playing games, learning and saying sorry. We discussed our opinions on each activity and explained our reasoning for each one.
Year 5
On Safer Internet Day we talked about the advantages and disadvantages of online chat and our positive and negative experiences on social media. We then used this to design and create posters offering advice on what to do if you have a negative experience online.
