2025-2026

Children in Need 2025

We thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the Spotacular Children in Need 2025 celebrations! The classroom was bursting with colour as everyone arrived in their brightest spotty outfits. The children showed wonderful enthusiasm, kindness, and creativity—making it a truly spotacular day for a fantastic cause!

Hello Yellow Day 2025

Our school came together to celebrate mental health awareness in style! Students proudly rocked their vibrant yellow clothing and personalised badges, sparking important conversations about the importance of mental well-being. Together, we’re shining a light on mental health—because it’s okay to not be okay, and it’s always okay to ask for help!

Mini Medics Course

Our young lifesavers took part in a fantastic Mini Medics session, where they learned vital first aid skills—including how to put someone in the recovery position, perform CPR and respond in emergency situations. A big step towards building confidence, responsibility and the power to help others!

Keyboard Lessons

We are having a fantastic time this term with our keyboard lessons under the guidance of Mr. Storey. He’s been introducing them to essential playing techniques and helping them understand key musical notation, setting the foundation for confident and expressive playing.

The Invisible by Tom Percival

As part of our Thrive activities, the children explored The Invisible by Tom Percival, a heartwarming story about kindness, belonging, and seeing the invisible people in our communities. Through thoughtful discussion and creative writing, they stepped into the shoes of the characters, writing in role to explore different perspectives and emotions. The children also created beautiful gratitude jars, filling them with notes about the things—big and small—they are thankful for, just like Isabel learns to appreciate the world around her. Finally, they wrote diary entries in role as Isabel, reflecting on her journey from feeling unseen to finding her place in the world. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect emotionally with the story, celebrate empathy, and recognise the importance of gratitude and community.

2024-2025

Mini Medics

We had the opportunity to complete a Mini Medics First Aid course where we looked at:

  • What is First Aid?
  • First Aid kits
  • The recovery position
  • Resuscitation (CPR)

We all received a certificate of attendance and a Mini Medics First Aid Book🚑🏥

Christmas Fun🎄🎅

We have had such a fun week in 6AW! We have watched Christmas movies with hot chocolate, played Christmas quizzes, sang in a carol service and even created some beautiful cards to take home.

We hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!🎄🎅

Children in Need 2024

For Children in Need, we dressed in spots and designed our own wonderful Children in Need t-shirts.

Anti-Bullying Week

The theme for Anti-Bullying Week this year was 'Choose Respect’. We came to school dressed in odd socks and then spent an afternoon focusing on cyberbullying and created our own '7 tips to beat cyberbullying' posters.

Harton Visit

Mrs Brennan, who works at Harton Academy, came to visit us to talk about what makes good teamwork. We worked through a range of challenges, talking about what makes good communication and why this is important.

Halloween

What a fun-filled Halloween!
We made Halloween crafts, cornflake cakes and watched a movie🎃👻

Hello Yellow 2024

During Hello Yellow Day, we discussed the importance of mental health and why we wear yellow. We designed our own Hello Yellow badges, enjoyed doodling what makes us happy and unique and also designed our own emojis.

RAP Event

We had a wonderful trip to the fire station today to take part in the RAP event (Reducing Accidents at Play). We had the opportunity to visit different stations where we looked at many safety aspects we face everyday.

A big thank you to Nexus, Road Safety, Tyne and Wear Fire Service, Northern Power and the RNLI. It was a fantastic day!
