For Children in Need Day 2025 we had a fun filled day while learning about the importance of helping others. We took part in the Activate Challenge with Joe Wicks. We celebrated the spirit of kindness and community. We brought donations to support children who need extra help , showing how even small actions can make a big difference.the day was full of smiles, teamwork and generosity.
Children in Need 2025 1LC
In History this week we have been learning to understand the passing of time by comparing pictures of new and old artefacts. Using these pictures we looked closely at clues such as materials, design and condition and then worked together to place them in order. We are developing our early skills in observing, comparing and sequencing objects from the past.
Why do we wear a Poppy?
As part of on learning about Remembrance day we explored why we wear poppies and how we remember the soldiers who helped to keep us safe. We joined a whole school assembly to reflect together, then took part in creative activities such as making our own poppies and decorating poppy biscuits. The class also watched news round to learn more about remembrance and the importance of honouring those who served.Some children chose to bring money to buy a poppy, showing kindness and respect.
We have been using a range of resources to support our learning, helping us to grow in confidence and develop independence as learners.
Our first day in 1LC!
Our wonderful new Year 1 class on their very first day! Excited smiles, curious minds, and ready for a full year of learning, laughter and new adventures together.

Sports Day
We LOVED taking part in sports day where we got to show off our talents. We worked as a team and competed individually. It was such a fun day full of excitement and sunshine!
Division
We shared Wild's forest berries equally between the animals.
There were challenges when extra animals showed up but we found how to make equal groups and how many berries would be left over.
Explorers: Amelia Earhart
We learned about the life of amazing explorer, Amelia Earhart. We were inspired by her story and loved finding out interesting facts about her. We tracked her flight using a map and even made our own planes!
DT: Smoothies!
We began designing our smoothies but taste testing various fruits and vegetables. We described their taste and texture and rated them. The children then chose which fruits they wanted to include in their own smoothies using their research.
World Book Day
We had a brilliant time celebrating World Book Day 2025! We enjoyed stories, learning about characters and celebrating our love of reading.
DT
We have loved our DT project of making healthy smoothies. We researched smoothies, completed taste tests and designed our very own smoothie! We finally chopped and prepared the ingredients ourselves and made our very own smoothies!
We have made a wonderful start to Year 1!
