PSED

At Sea View Primary, we recognise that personal, social, and emotional development (PSED) is a fundamental aspect of every child’s growth in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Our approach is centered on creating a warm and nurturing environment where children feel safe and valued. Through a variety of engaging activities and play-based learning experiences, we help young learners develop key skills such as self-awareness, emotional regulation, and the ability to form positive relationships.

Our dedicated staff is committed to fostering an atmosphere where children can freely express their emotions and learn to navigate their social world. By encouraging teamwork and collaborative play, we teach the importance of communication, sharing, and problem-solving in group contexts. Regular circle time sessions allow children to share their thoughts and feelings, while role-playing activities help them understand different perspectives and build empathy.

We celebrate each child’s individuality, providing tailored support to help them grow in confidence and resilience. Through both structured and spontaneous activities, our pupils learn to recognise their emotions and understand how their actions impact others

Nursery

In our recent sessions, we've been diving deep into the exciting theme of 'Wonderful Me'. We kicked things off by reading the delightful story, "It's Okay to Be Different", which sparked lovely conversations about what makes each of us special. We explored our unique traits and the incredible diversity within our group, highlighting how these differences contribute to who we are.

To make it more engaging, we rolled up our sleeves and got creative by making mirrors that reflected our individual styles and personalities. These activities really helped to boost our confidence and self-awareness. Each child had the opportunity to identify their own unique characteristics, celebrating everything that makes them, well, them!

Reception

Reception Class Bears

Meet Jessie and Barnaby!

Jessie and Barnaby are Reception's Class to Home bears.

During a Thrive lesson, the children worked together to create two very special class bears. The children shared ideas, took turns and worked collaboratively throughout. The children demonstrated their growing confidence skills, empathy to one another and building relationships as they created their shared bears. They also demonstrated their curiosity, persistence and pride as they created their class bears together.

The children made a promise to the bears that they would always be kind to them and help to look after them both in school and when they had their turn to take them to their home.

The children had a class discussion regarding what to name the bears. They then had took part in a class vote and together, they decided on the names Barnaby and Jessie. Jessie and Barnaby each choose a different child each week to go home with for the weekend and share amazing experiences together. Working with their grown ups at home, the children can record the fun weekend they have had by adding photographs, pictures and writing.
