Home learning activities - w/c 23rd March

We loved sharing our favourite maths activities with our parents and carers.

We had lots of fun making, flipping and eating pancakes for Shrove Tuesday!

Chinese New Year

We have had a great time celebrating Chinese New Year! We have made lots of Chinese crafts, such as lanterns and money envelopes and we had our own Chinese dragon parade! To end our celebrations, we had a Chinese restaurant and ate a variety of Chinese food such as rice, noodles, prawn crackers and a fortune cookie. We even tried to eat using chopsticks!

This term we are looking at the story, 'The tiger who came to tea'.

The Tiger Who Came to Tea

Audio book read by Annie's Workshop

We enjoyed making our own plates of food for a tea party for the tiger. We also made our own tiger print patterns.

Santa Winter Wonderland!

We had a great time visiting West Boldon Lodge for a Santa Winter Wonderland workshop. We took part in lots of Christmas activities, including making a Christmas decoration and decorating a Santa hat. We helped the naughty elves by finding the 6 missing jigsaw pieces and sat around the campfire to eat toasted marshmallows. We went inside to warm up with a drink of hot chocolate before meeting Santa! What an exciting time we had!

Our Christmas Nativity

Police Visit

We had a very exciting afternoon with a visit from two police officers! They brought some uniform for us to try on and we learnt all about how to keep safe.

Bubbles workshop

We enjoyed our visit from Northumbria University to explore making bubbles. We explored different shape bubble wands and how they all made the same shape bubbles! We also watched how to make giant bubbles!

Harvest Soup

We had a great time preparing vegetables for our Harvest soup. We washed our hands before using knives to cut and prepare the vegetables. The vegetables were then placed into the pan with stock. We sang some Harvest songs to our grown ups before sharing our soup with them.

Maths Gruffalo Hunt

We had a problem to solve today as all the characters from the Gruffalo story were hiding in the outside area. We found the different characters and used some positional language to describe where they were hiding.
