Hello Yellow Day!

We came to school dressed in yellow to take part in Hello Yellow Day.

We shared the story, 'My Many Coloured Days', by Dr Seuss. This showed us how we can feel different colours on different days.

My Many Colored Days

We explored the theme of colours and emotions by creating and decorating colour squiggles and making colourful collages.

We talked about our favourite colours and which colours made us feel happy.smiley

Exploring Numicon

In maths this week we have been exploring Numicon shapes. We found out that we can count the number of holes on each shape and use them to represent numbers. We also matched the numbers to the correct numerals.

Autumn Walk

We had a great time learning about the season of Autumn. We talked about the different things we might see during Autumn. We then went for an Autumn walk around the school grounds to find signs of Autumn. We collected Autumn leaves, acorns and berries to make an Autumn display in our classroom.

We have enjoyed sharing the story 'Owl Babies' this week.

Owl Babies Picture Book Animation

We engaged in imaginative play using props from the story. We retold the story using the baby owls.

We sequenced pictures from the story and then listened carefully for the sounds we could hear in the words. We then used a sound mat to help us to record some of the initial sounds.

We have enjoyed sharing the story, 'Avocado Baby', this week. Look out for photos of all the fun things we have done!

Story Time Book 26 - Avocado Baby

We looked at a range of different food pictures and sorted them into healthy and unhealthy food.

We explored floating and sinking using different fruits and vegetables.

We look carefully at an avocado pear and described what it looked like and felt like. Then we tasted it on a cracker! I wonder if we can grow as strong as the avocado baby!

The Daily Mile

We enjoy taking part in the Daily Mile every day! We can walk, run or jog around our running track. It's keeping us fit and healthy too!

Wellbeing Welcome Week

Our first week in Reception was a wellbeing week. We shared the story, 'Meesha makes friends'.

* We talked about how we make friends by listening to each other and playing together.

* We talked about people who are special to us.

* We talked about how we can show each other how we are feeling.

* We made our own play dough friends

* We made a self portrait and talked about what makes us special and how we can be a good friend.

Our playdough friends!

Our portraits... We used a mirror to look at ourselves before painting out portraits. We used pastels to add our features too!
